Tried Time Attack at Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR) yesterday. I did not do well.
We had one parade lap to check the cone placement, and then off we went. I've never done autox or time attack, but have experience with track days. I normally run DSC on during the first session on track days, letting the tires warm up, and me to mentally warm up. For some stupid reason, I went against my MO, and turned DSC off. Tires weren't warmed up, I wasn't mentally warmed up, and I didn't know what I was doing. I was worried more about hitting cones than thinking about a slow turn. I early apexed with a near disastrous result.
The wall was very close, I've now used up 2 of my 9 wall missing lives.
2 tires up front were brand new, 2 out back were in decent shape. Stock pressures. Some friends recommended higher pressures up front, I wasn't aware of that.
No damage to the car I'm aware of, she seems fine. I did one more uneventful run (with DSC on)
